We Wildflyers are a dynamic foursome, composed of a couple Weavers and a couple Murrays. The Weavers’ path to mead is pretty obvious. They are beekeeping magnates. The transition into making booze from all honey they have lying around is pretty straightforward. The Murrays’ path is a bit less clear, until you read any “Our Story” page on any brewery/winery/cidery/meadery/-ery website. They started homebrewing, and then voilà! Except in this case, Jeff realized he is the greatest mead maker in the world…so what choice did he have!?
They came together through a simple Facebook post. In summary, it went like this.
Laura - “We want to sell alcohol, but this dang county is dry!”
Dan [who happens to be both a lawyer and bee whisperer] - “Fun Fact: The state lets wineries sell booze in dry counties!”
Chelsea - [scrolling Facebook] “Jeff, remember BeeWeaver, where we bought our first nuc of bees? I think they want to start making mead. But surely they don’t make as amazing mead as you do.”
Jeff - “Let’s move to Grimes County and make mead with the Weavers!”
Destiny.
