Homeless Heroes of Amarillo
Homeless Heroes of Amarillo. Giving back to those that have served by building tiny homes for our local veteran's.
1301 Clyde Street, Amarillo, Texas, 79106
Our mission is to create a solution for homeless Veterans here in the panhandle. We intend to build a tiny home village specifically for our Military men and women who are homeless in Amarillo. Our vision is that through this community, we will be able to abolish homelessness for our local Veterans. This is a very successful project that has been done around the country and I intend to bring that same blessing here. I work closely with the Veterans Resource Center.
According to the Mayor’s Summit regarding this topic, about 5% of Amarillo’s homeless population were Veterans. Although that number may not be staggering, it is a blessing to see that we can do something about it. My organization would work with the Veterans Resource center to receive a list of those who are street homeless. Veterans will then be assessed and prioritized based on their need and vulnerability. Based on a current model, each veteran placed in a home will have a case manager to design a plan for them to transition into permanent housing. The Veteran will be welcome to stay in the village community as long as they are actively working towards their goal.
